THE AYURVEDA EXPERIENCE

Ayurveda is a holistic system of health care, both preventive and curative.

Treatment processes for detoxification and building up the immune system are a special feature of Ayurveda.

Basic principles of Ayurveda

Two main theories form the basic concept of Ayurveda.

The Panchabhoota Theory:
According to Ayurvedic philosophy, all living and non-living matter consists of five basic elements in different proportions. They are Prithvi (earth), Jala (water), Teja (fire), Vayu (air) and Akash (ether).

Even the human body is made up of these elements, collectively known as panchabhootas .

The Thridhosha Theory:
According to this theory, all physiological functions of the body are controlled by three biological entities called vatha , pitha and kapha , which in turn are composed of the panchabhootas.

Vatha is responsible for all voluntary and involuntary movements in the human body.

Pitha is responsible for all digestive and metabolic processes in the body.

Kapha provides stable energy that holds body tissues together. It also lubricates the various friction points.

When the so-called doshas are in balance, the body is healthy.

When the balance is disturbed, the body becomes ill.
