MUNROE ISLAND

Munroe Thuruth is a cluster of eight islands in Kollam District. The place is known for its pristine backwaters and lively country life. This island village was named after Colonel John Munroe, the British resident of the former state of Travancore.

Munroe not only hosts a diverse flora and fauna, but also several migratory birds. The District Tourism Promotion Council offers boat tours here.
